Several Twitter and Facebook users have posted an image of a teacher along with an infant in a baby wrap. The image is viral with the text, “His wife passed away during Childbirth. But he has taken responsibility for taking the child and college classes together. The real life Hero.”
The screenshot below shows how widely the image has been shared Facebook.
After a reverse image search using TinEye, we found that the image was published by CNN Spanish in 2016. As per CNN, the man in the image Acapulco-based Moisés Reyes Sandoval, a law professor at Mexico’s Inter-American University for Development.
Explaining why he was carrying a baby, Sandoval told CNN that the baby belongs to 22-year old student Yalena Salas. In order to ensure the student didn’t miss out on the lecture because the infant was crying, he offered to help by carrying the baby. In 2016, Sandoval posted this image on Facebook and wrote, “I have a student who has not dropped out of school despite her different roles, so I decided to carry her son without interrupting class…” (Translated via Google from Spanish) His Facebook post has been shared over 21,000 times.
Tengo una alumna, que no ha desertado a la escuela a pesar de sus distintos roles, por eso decidí cargar a su hijo, sin interrumpir la clase para que tomara apuntes. #Acapulco
Thus, a 2016 image of a Mexican teacher holding a student’s child so that she doesn’t miss out on the lecture has gone viral in India with the false claim that he is the father of the child.
